Evaluation Process for Current Players (U9 to U17)

Last year, in 2024, we announced that we would be transitioning to a new evaluation process for current players. We are excited to continue with this updated format in 2025. This new process will apply to all current players born U9 (2016) to U17 (2008).

The evaluation process will again include the ongoing assessment tool, in which GAC staff coaches have observed or led sessions and/or games with players in the club throughout the 2024-2025 Fall Season.

In addition to this tool, we will be hosting an Evaluation Period throughout February where players may request to be evaluated at their desired level for the Spring and Fall 2025 Season. The request form is applicable to all current GAC players born U11 (2014) - U17 (2008).

All current U8-U10 players are not required to fill out a form, as these evaluations will be included in our programming throughout February.

Important Notes:

This evaluation period is open to both current GAC players and players from outside the club. Players wishing to be evaluated at a higher level must submit the Current Player Evaluation Form by February 7th, 2025 (click blue banner above) . GAC Technical Staff will compile the list of interested players for each age group, and players will either be assessed in further sessions with their current team or invited to training sessions with the team at their desired level for the following season. Players not submitting a form will be assumed to wish to remain at their current level for the Spring and Fall 2025 season.

This evaluation process will apply to all Select Teams in the club, including U11-U18 Div. 1/2 and U18 Metro teams. All players currently in these streams will be evaluated, and updates to player status will be provided no later than February 28th, 2025. Players currently in Div. 3 teams will only be evaluated by request, as mentioned above.

Example:

A U13 Division 3 player wanting to move to Division 2 would fill out the form. A U13 Division 2 player staying at their current level does not need to fill out a form.

Note: Where interest in a particular age group or level of play is high we reserve the right to hold more traditional larger scale evaluation at the beginning of March in order to accommodate all requests.
